The 1st Sunday in Lent marked the enrollment of our 5 R.C.I.A. catechumen into the Book of the Elect. This event publicly signifies to the parish their wish to join the Church through the sacraments. The Parish accepted them heartily. After entering their names at St. Joseph, the five drove to St. Michael’s Cathedral in Springfield for the formal ceremony, where they signed the Diocesan Book of the Elect.
The Elect, Michael Hayden (with his fiance and sponsor, Carlene Millett), Robert Carmody, his daughters Katelyn, Alecia and wife, Melissa, now look forward to the scrutinies, which occur for the next few weeks before Holy Week.
