Larry & Gina Wells, Sue & Larry Channel, Joseph Almeida and Sandy Daviau (L-R) are commissioned as Eucharistic Ministers by Father Tony Cullen.
This past Sunday, Father Tony commissioned six new Eucharistic Ministers in our parish: Larry & Gina Wells, Larry & Sue Channel, Joe Almeida and Sandy Daviau.
According to Canon Law 230.3, an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist helps distribute communion at Mass and also may take communion to the shut-ins, sick and dying. With permission, in areas lacking ordained clergy, he/she may also conduct a Communion Service, exercise the Ministry of the Word, preside over liturgical services and confer Baptism.
Eucharistic Ministers (EM’s) ideally serve during the weekend Mass at which they normally worship and are optimally scheduled to serve every three to four weeks (depending on the number and availability of parish EM’s).
It is with great reverence that this very special privilege is to be shared. If you have a deep devotion to the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist, this ministry may be what God is calling you to.
If you want more information about becoming a Eucharistic Minister, please contact Father Tony, Deacon Tom, or the rectory office at (413) 625-6405. Training is mandatory and provided by Father Tony. Additional EM’s are needed to serve at both of the Sunday Masses.
