Happy Birthday, Fr. Paul!

The parishioners of St. Joseph Parish wish you a very Happy Birthday and pray for your good health. As you near finals and graduation, we wish you good luck in the next chapter of your life!

God bless,

“Thank you so much for remembering me on my birthday!! There are times when I really feel my age and other times (most of the time really) when I feel as young as my classmates. In just a few weeks, on May 17, I graduate, and on the 20th is my graduation recital, at 2 p.m. I can hardly believe that it is 2 years already. This past November I was asked by the chair of the opera department to come back for the Diploma in Opera. I am hoping that the bishop will give me the time, though I doubt that he will. It would mean 2 more years away. As though the offer wasn’t overwhelming enough, both the department head AND the dean of the school are going to write to the bishop to ask that I be allowed to remain. I have no idea what I have done there to make myself such a desired person. My recital prep is going well, the songs are fairly well memorized, in German, French adn English. All I have to do is add the drama portion, more or less acting out the songs. For some that is easy enough, for others, well, not so much. Right now I am in Annondale-on-Hudson, at Brad College, our sister college, with a bunch of other Longy students for a concert of Verdi’s Requiem. We are part, a very small part, of a 103 voice choir and full orchestra production of this opera-style Mass setting. It is…well……opera style and that is all I am going to say about that. In a way I’m glad to be in this. That way I won’t have to do it again at some future point in my life! I really do prefer, as I am finding out, smaller scale, more chamber music stuff. Hopefully I’ll get to drop by and visit with you folks at some point. Do remember to the folks out there, as I speak about my 4 years (and one month exactly but who’s counting) very fondly.” – Fr. Paul
